Tattoo Reduction
Once upon a time tattoos were forever... not anymore. By creating a high energy pulse our laser breaks down tattoo ink into minute particles. These particles are absorbed by the body and pass through the lymphatic system.
As the laser hits the tattoo, a light grey frost will appear on the tattoo, indicating energy was applied. Tattoo laser removal may feel a little uncomfortable.
We’re with you every step of the way, working with you to set to achieve the best possible result.
Tattoo reduction is a journey, not a one-and-done. Here's what you need to know before you book:
Your tattoo must be more than 5 years old. Black ink fades best, greens and yellows are a no, and some blues need checking first. We treat tattoos up to approximately 10cm x 18cm, but not sleeves, full legs or the chest area.
Sessions run every 6 to 8 weeks because your body needs time to flush out the ink and full reduction can take up to 18 months. Not suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding, and no tan (real or fake) for 4 weeks before each session. And whatever you do, don't pick the treated area while it heals.
Every journey starts with a consultation so we can give you an honest, realistic plan for your tattoo.
Let's talk about scarring (the bit no one tells you)
Here's something most people don't know: some tattoos have scarring hiding underneath the ink.
It happens more than you'd think. Your skin sees tattoo ink as a foreign substance, so from day one your body has been quietly fighting it. That process, or a heavy hand during the original tattooing, can leave scar tissue under the surface. You've never seen it, because the ink has been covering it the whole time.
As we reduce the ink, any scarring that's been hiding underneath can become visible. This isn't caused by the laser, it was always there. The ink was just doing a very good job of keeping it a secret.
The good news? We'll never let it surprise you. If we can see scarring in your tattoo, we'll tell you upfront so you know exactly what to expect. And once we're a few sessions in, we may recommend skin needling over the area to help break down that scar tissue and smooth the skin as the ink fades.
This is also exactly why we're so firm on the no-picking rule. Your skin is already working hard. Picking blisters or scabs adds fresh scarring on top, and that IS avoidable.

Any new client must book a Tattoo Consultation before we start any tattoo reduction treatments, we need to assess the area and chat about what results you can expect. A patch test will be completed to check if you’re a suitable candidate some inks contain chemicals that can react to the reduction treatment.

Most clients describe it like a rubber band flicking the skin. Quick and over fast, sessions usually only take 5 to 15 minutes. Uncomfortable? A little. Unbearable? Not even close.
-
Every tattoo is different. Ink colour, depth, age and your own body all play a part, which is why we start with a consultation. Full reduction can take up to 18 months, with sessions every 6 to 8 weeks.
We find most clients need 8 - 10 sessions.
It's a commitment, but a worthwhile one.

Because the laser doesn't remove your tattoo, your body does. Your immune system needs those weeks to flush out the broken-down ink. Rushing it doesn't speed anything up, it just puts your skin at risk.
-
Black ink responds best. Greens and yellows don't break down well with laser, and some blues need to be assessed in person first. We'll give you an honest answer at your consultation.
-
No tan, no fake tan, for at least 4 weeks before each session.
Tanned skin and laser don't mix, and it affects your results too.
-
That's a normal part of healing. But hear us loud and clear: DO NOT pick it. Picking is the fastest road to scarring. Let it heal, follow your aftercare, and call us if you're worried about anything.
-
Actually, yes.
Your immune system does the heavy lifting, so help it out.
Drink plenty of water, don't smoke, go easy on the alcohol and protect the area from the sun. Healthy body will equal faster fading.
