Tattoo Reduction

Once upon a time tattoos were forever... not anymore. By creating a high energy pulse our laser breaks down tattoo ink into minute particles. These particles are absorbed by the body and pass through the lymphatic system.

As the laser hits the tattoo, a light grey frost will appear on the tattoo, indicating energy was applied. Tattoo laser removal may feel a little uncomfortable.

We’re with you every step of the way, working with you to set to achieve the best possible result.

Tattoo reduction is a journey, not a one-and-done. Here's what you need to know before you book:

Your tattoo must be more than 5 years old. Black ink fades best, greens and yellows are a no, and some blues need checking first. We treat tattoos up to approximately 10cm x 18cm, but not sleeves, full legs or the chest area.

Sessions run every 6 to 8 weeks because your body needs time to flush out the ink and full reduction can take up to 18 months. Not suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding, and no tan (real or fake) for 4 weeks before each session. And whatever you do, don't pick the treated area while it heals.

Every journey starts with a consultation so we can give you an honest, realistic plan for your tattoo.

Let's talk about scarring (the bit no one tells you)

Here's something most people don't know: some tattoos have scarring hiding underneath the ink.

It happens more than you'd think. Your skin sees tattoo ink as a foreign substance, so from day one your body has been quietly fighting it. That process, or a heavy hand during the original tattooing, can leave scar tissue under the surface. You've never seen it, because the ink has been covering it the whole time.

As we reduce the ink, any scarring that's been hiding underneath can become visible. This isn't caused by the laser, it was always there. The ink was just doing a very good job of keeping it a secret.

The good news? We'll never let it surprise you. If we can see scarring in your tattoo, we'll tell you upfront so you know exactly what to expect. And once we're a few sessions in, we may recommend skin needling over the area to help break down that scar tissue and smooth the skin as the ink fades.

This is also exactly why we're so firm on the no-picking rule. Your skin is already working hard. Picking blisters or scabs adds fresh scarring on top, and that IS avoidable.
